The Orthopedic Department (VO) at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) has over 500 employees and is one of Sweden's largest orthopedic operations. Our services are provided in both Lund and Malmö. Each year, we receive over 85,000 visits at our clinics and have approximately 6,700 inpatients.

The orthopedic clinic in Malmö is sectioned so that the teams for shoulder, foot, sports, back, trauma, and osteoporosis have their main operations based in Malmö. Each week, around 600 visits are conducted at the Malmö clinic. Patients come to the clinic for new visits (assessment/investigation) and follow-ups, for example after a previous surgery. We work in teams with the patient in focus.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The orthopedic clinic in Malmö is looking for plaster technicians/nursing assistants for two combined positions!

In the role of plaster technician/nursing assistant, you work in a team together with other plaster technicians, nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. You meet patients with fractures, spinal diseases, skeletal deformities, surgical trauma, and multi-trauma.

Your work includes being part of the plaster team, which is an independent role. As a nursing assistant, you will perform standard clinic tasks, including independent suture and dressing changes. Among your tasks are calling in patients, assisting the doctor with sampling, dressing changes, ordering medical transport, and more.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a trained plaster technician and trained nursing assistant with a focus on emergency care. Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are also a requirement for the position. Additionally, you have experience in performing plaster treatments.

We prefer that you have several years of experience as a nursing assistant in emergency care and good knowledge in orthopedic nursing. It is also advantageous if you have experience in clinic work and advanced wound care (for example, negative pressure treatment for hard-to-heal wounds). If you also have experience with the systems Pasis and Melior, we see that as beneficial.

OTHER

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within healthcare and social services. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title as a nursing assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you will need to show proof of a protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by the transitional provisions, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not nursing assistant.
